Grading Scheme :

        Exams : 73% (Two Semester Exams - 20% each, Final Exam - 33%)

-There will be no make-up exams.  With a documented medical excuse the grade for a missed semester exam will be calculated by averaging the other two exams.  The Final Exam must be taken. A documented medical excuse consists of a form from Module 2 of the health center or a letter from your personal physician and must contain dates of incapacitation.  The little form from Module 1 will not be accepted.

 

        The (highly probable) date for the first exam will be on Friday, June 21st

        The (highly probable) date for the second exam will be on Friday, July 12th

        The cumulative Final Exam will be held on Friday, July 26th

 

 

        Homework and Quizzes : 27% (Homework - 15%, Quizzes - 12%)

-All written homework assignments will be due at the beginning of the class or lab session indicated.  Quizzes will be given in lab each week (when there is not an exam that day).  There will be no makeups given.  Lab quizzes will be given at the beginning of lab and then the answers will be reviewed.  There will be homework assigned on a regular basis starting on the first day of class.  Many homework questions will be taken from the textbook.  You are encouraged to purchase the text by the first day of class for this reason.

-Missed homeworks due to a medical reason will be made up in a manner to be determined at that time.  Again, a documented medical excuse is required, as defined above.

 

        Note : Each exam will be curved individually as needed.  It is not

        guaranteed that all exams will be curved.  The final letter grade will be

        based on 90% and above for an A, 80% for a B, etc.  The final grade will not

        need to be curved since each contributing exam grade may be.

 

 

Academic Honesty :

Homeworks are individual assignments and are to be done by you.  You may NOT discuss homework problems with anyone other than the TA or myself.  Any students found to be turning in identical homework, collaborating on homework, or cheating on quizzes or exams will be turned over to the Student Honor Council for review and a hearing.  The default decision of the Council is typically to give you an XF for the course but they may go as far as suspending you from the University.
