now playing: chanson pour solal by air. feels (note the use of the word in preference of "sounds") like angels communicating with voles.
good afternoon. this weblog's new and ugly look has been brought to you by kc. it looks less readable, actually. for lunch today we have fried vermicelli ( bee hoon , as us lowly chinese singaporeans typically call it). all egg, unattractive shreds of caixin (i know of no english translation for this vegetable's name), fried prawn and some chicken thing that tastes like rubber.
so yes, my attraction for meat is dwindling by the day. hoorah for my quest to be vegetarian (and ultimately, due to philosophical reasons, i do wish to become vegan). my parents are out buying a laptop, which would potentially bring our computer count to five (a mac, one error-prone pc, and four "junkyard" class pcs).
unfortunately, it runs windows. the thing is that although they know it's going to be virus-infested (they aren't very computer-smart), they insist on buying something with windows in it because it's "what i'll be using when i am working", and "that's what everyone is using". (yes, large conglomerates have a lot of staying power these days. ) which is why i might be trying to put linux into it. i'm also going to try out cy's linux-loaded laptop for some time, and i'll report back another time. still on the book list is a couple of jack london books (i finished three), a thackeray and one love novel that cy recommended (doubleplusungood writing, but very graphic!). there was also a net reading of a sherlock holmes story (i forgot which one it was) that i only caught a few sentences of.
damn it. all right. time to do some study. bye.
