libido & the troubles i almost remind myself of a i have 9 pictures from the studio photography class that we developed in the dark room; all is well. in addition to the two photos of "chubby girl" kwen marketed to the class as my latest girlfriend, i now have pictures of a girl in a swimsuit, another girl in a spaghetti-strap outfit in another (but by no means is this the only outfit she is clad in, which must be a tad disappointing), and a casually-dressed (the requirements of cloth on a girl's body, of course, reduces exponentially with time, so take the term with a pinch of salt) girl with a lascivious / libidinous smile to kill.
the products of the shooting, i must add, are well-deserved considering the things you have to do after taking the photograph itself; consideration to brightness, shutter speed and picture composition is challenging. the next thing is that you have to develop the film in a dark room, this involves an hour or so of shaking the film in a canister containing a chemical that must exist at 20 degrees Celcius, so add another hour to preparation.
finally, you have to spend another few hours developing the film. you have to do test strips for practically every picture you want to do, and you have to re-crop the picture, and if you accidentally screw up you get a picture that turns out all black, or if you developed it in the safe-light you get... nothing. after that you have to put the picture in 3 different chemicals, the first of which gives a yellow-brown stain on our white shirts and trousers. one of my trousers now have a stain that has been strategically placed to locate where the trouser-legs meet.
and you have to develop the picture at an apeture that above 5.6, but then you need to focus the image with 2.8 since anything else is not clear enough, and if you forget to change back to 5.6... given the astounding failure rates for a novice like myself, the defining moment of a budding photographer-cum-developer... is to see the pictures form correctly; to see the thing of beauty seal its place in recorded history. but even this is temporary if you do not put it in the fixer chemical & running water long enough!
