I'm posting some assumptions about discursive formations that should help our (long - term) conversation. I'm just posting them up here so you can remember them, think about them, and maybe develop how these assumptions are created to media on your own later.... 1. discursive formations are invisible. 2. discursive formations are not natural (they're made). 3. discursive formations seem real (and therefore natural). 4. discursive formations exist because of relationships between words and concepts. (those of you who were there in class today -- hopefully recognize / remember these...)
