This has to be the most special birthday gift I've gotten from anyone EVER. I got this quilt in the mail today that my grandmother made me for my birthday this year.
She took family photos and pet photos and printed them onto material and then added them on to the quilt. It's so great! I'm in love with it and plan on running out tomorrow to get a rod to hang it on the wall. Now that I've started knitting and crafting my own things, I realize how much time and care goes into making something.
It makes me appreciate it that much the more. I even got a bit choked up seeing this. In particular she put a nice sewn message on the back of the quilt, with a picture of herself taken in the rose gardens in Seattle and the best part... a poem that I handwrote to her and my Grandpa when I was a little girl. Incredibly touching and sweet. That's my Grandma for you though... and my Grandpa for that matter. Both talented artistic, musical folks. I got my piano playing talent from my Grandmother for sure. In fact I think some of my personality definitely takes after my Grandma more than my dad or my mom for some reason.
I relate more to her in a lot of ways, suprisingly. I'll be up in Seattle this weekend visiting Cristy and friends, and hopefully she'll be around to spend an afternoon with. I LOVE YOU GRANDMA!
