Something borrowed, someone new Last night I posted before I headed out with some friends for drinks. I posted about time and about how everyone I knew on the web was 3 or more hours behind me. While I sat on the bar stool last night it occurred to me that here it was 11:45pm and somewhere on the west coast it was only 8:45pm, people were still getting ready to head out for the night while I was already 4 drinks into my night. Then it hit me, I am a lot more interested in the lives of people online then of the people sitting right in front of me. Are they just boring, or have I become one of the millions of people who find technology a better way to communicate? That being said I came home and surfed the net, downloaded some pictures and contemplated which photo printer I was going to buy in the coming weeks. I thought nothing of what had just happen at the bar, I just sat here wondering where everyone who's blogs I read were heading out for the night or where they were at that exact moment.
Here it was 2:30am, but somewhere in LA and in Nevada, even Vancouver, BC it was only 11:30pm and people were either 30 minutes into the late show at the movies or standing in line at hot club on Sunset Blvd.
For a minute I was envious, then I was actually curious. I had only seen pictures of the Los Angeles and I have only spent 4 days in Las Vegas, but part of me wished I was there living the lives of the people who post about them on their blogs. I wish I was on the West Coast. I know your thinking that if I was on the west coast, I would wonder what is going on on the east coast, but to be honest, I do wonder every now and then what the people in New York City are doing.
What the temperature in South Carolina is and what the southerners are doing in Georgia. I am fascinated by other peoples lives, a voyeur if you will, who is looking for inspiration in her own life. Sad it may seem to some, but to me, I am just trying to make sense of it all, trying to put the pieces together. Really trying to decide what flight I will leave on in May.
