Officially, the school year is 180 days. We have made it through the first one and have 179 more to go. Trace and Cammi had great days and enjoyed riding the bus over to the high school. Trace is in third grade now and Cammi in first. T gets to change classes for reading and science which he thinks is cool. Cammi got to sit next to her friend Hope in class today so first grade was cool too. I am glad that they like school, but we are going to have to work on proper etiquette for being in high school with me. Here's the list of what they did today.. 1. Cammi and Trace were loud in the halls. They arrive at 2:45 and school for me isn't over until 3:20.
So we are walking down the hall with them talking in their "outdoor" voices about what had happened during the day. 2. Cammi went into the principal's office to see if he had any candy. Mr. J let her do that this summer when we went by school. Fortunately, he was not with a parent, bad student, etc... 3. We have chairs outside the principal's offices where students sit and wait when they are in trouble. Trace flopped down across it sideways with his long legs hanging over one side and his head over the other side. Then he announced in a loud voice "Mom, I'm bored!". I felt like announcing "and I am embarrassed! " 4. As school ended, the door to my room was open. Cammi went in the hall to watch all the band members walk out to practice with their instruments.
She tried to get the drummers to let her play their instruments and then proceeded to ask a student I did not even know if she could have some of his candy. Well other than that, my day went well considering I had not computer, no overhead, chalkboard, etc. to write on, no TV and you can barely hear the announcements or bell. A positive from that is that the students were really quiet when someone was talking on it.
Over all a good day, but I am going to hate being the fashion police. I honestly cannot believe that parents let their children wear some of the things I saw today. Rick would have sent Cammi right back up the stairs to find one of Trace's shirts and some sweat pants if she ever wore the kind of shirts some of these girls had on. Well, time to write some lesson plans for tomorrow. Good night y'all.
