This post will be written quickly because I have HOMEWORK to do.. Yeah, I know. But taking a class for a week and getting graduate credit and it being completely FREE is the reason I do it.. Now could someone explain authentic assessment, validity of standards and rubrics vs. Checklists theories?
Me neither. Guess homework will take awhile. Before my class started this afternoon, I went to school to move the last few things to my new classroom. I realized I needed a few extra containers, so I ran down to the Dollar General store. The cashier was one of my former students home for summer. T (a college scholarship basketball player) told me that he decided to take an acting class to help his GPA this last semester. After doing the first day's assignment, the professor asked if he had previous experience in theater. T told her that he had four years of high school theater. She told he was a natural and should consider theater as a major (This university has a great theater program).
Long story short- T is now a theater major and is very excited. His professor also told him I must have been a good teacher. T is being excited about pursuing this and doing well- B average in college. (Yeah, I checked to make sure he wasn't in trouble with his scholarship). It was a cool experience. I was a proud Drama Mama this morning . Now.. gotta run.. HOMEWORK IS WAITING.
