I have decided that I have crushes on the weirdest, most random people ever. For instance, today I discovered that I have a crush on the guy that clocks me in every morning. Sure, we have barely said anything to each other save for the occasional "Hi", smile, and wave, but nevertheless I find myself anticipating that time around 8:53 every morning when I will scan my ID and he will press some buttons on the computer and look at me and give me some kind of greeting while my timeslip prints out. One day, he even said more to me. As I was leaving he said, "Have a good day. " and I said, "Ok. I will. " and he said, "And if it's not a good day, make it one. " I think that means we're in love.
My three-day-long trip was pretty cool. Mississippi was kinda...boring. I guess Alabama was too. But I am convinced that no one in Jackson eats or uses gas to fuel their cars. My mother and I spent half an hour trying to find a restaurant and ended up having to get on the high way to another city to eat. There were a couple of fast food places, but nothing else! We also went to this blues cafe that was supposed to be a happenin' place in town but we made up half of the people that were there...but we did get to see Ironing Board Sam play a few songs and then he handed out his biography to everyone. That guy is hardcore. Alabama was pretty boring as well. We saw my brother's drum corps perform though, along with seven other corps. It was all very entertaining. Oh, and before we went to their rehearsal and I got to see 128 young strapping boys aged 16-22 shirtless and marching around the field playing their instruments. Sexy. I fell on the stadium stairs during rehearsal and there were like ten people sitting in the stands so everyone saw and after rehearsal was over one of the shirtless boys walking in my direction asked if I was ok. Why, yes, yes I am.
Happens all the time. The riding in the car part was pretty cool. We stopped at an outlet book store and got a book on tape. Stephen King's Nightmares and Dreamscapes, which is a collection of short stories. They were pretty good. 9 1/2 hours of listening to that and then some of sleeping and 2 of listening to H.G. Wells' The Time Machine. Also got some good music listening in. I heart The Shins. They are great. And some reading.
I am well on my way to being finished with the Douglas Adams collection. Anyway, I got back last night with no plans for the next two weeks. The only thing I know is that I need to work as much as possible and save as much money as possible so that I am able to buy that ibook after I get back from my trip on August 16th. $739 is what it is going to cost me. Plus shipping and handling because it is online. Best Buy doesn't carry Macs or anything but the latest models.
I want an ibook G3. The G4 is the latest model but it is also around $400 more expensive and the differences aren't even that important. Anyway, I guess what I am saying is that if I play my cards right, and I think I will, by the end of August I could have a new ibook. Joy! Well, I lied. I do have one plan. And that is to go see Braid play on the 23rd. But that is it. Hrm. Well. My new favorite line from Chutes Too Narrow: I'm a walking cliche. And sometimes, that's just what I am. I don't think that's a good thing. :/ oh well.
