I just got back from the Everclear concert and I must say that I was quite disappointed. I can truthfully say that Everclear is the only band that I like less because of seeing them live.
They must do a lot of sprucing up on their recorded tracks because in real life, that guy cannot sing worth CRAP. Sorry to break the news, but he sucks at singing. And he is OLD...you know all those pictures you see of Everclear and it is the guy with the blond spiky hair? Yeah, that's him....in like the frickin 80s. This was a middle-aged, graying, balding Alzheimer's guy who seemed to forget the lines to some of his songs sometimes.
He tried to cover it up by fading out and then going, "Sing it! " But you could tell....his age had gotten to him. He actually kinda looked like Steve Martin except more annoying and less funny. They should have a law against old farts trying to rock on with the younger generation...heh, like once all your hair turns grey...And then, for the encore, all they did was invite all these sluts/whores onto the stage to "dance"/ put on a near strip show/ be all over the band members. It was sick. I did not want to see that. I mean, no one did. Unless they were just like the old fart on stage who probably liked the possibility of having sex with girls young enough to be his daughters.
These two girls even started making out towards the end. It was so gay. In a literal and nonliteral sense. For the Everclear portion of the concert, I really didn't enjoy the music all that much and I didn't have just a whole lot of fun. However, on a positive note... The opening band, The Exies, was awesome. I loved their music and they acted with self-respect. Plus the lead singer could actually sing and he was not an old fart. Far from it, in fact. He was pretty darn hot.
Afterwards, they gave out free posters and were meeting-and-greeting. I was first in line. They were all so nice and all shook hands with me and wrote personal notes on my poster. They acted with humility and class, unlike the idiotic headlining band. Their music was a lot better too and it had a lot more genuine emotion in the lyrics. Rather than "They all become Volvo Driving Soccer Moms" I cannot say how much I don't like Everclear because of this concert.
The Exies however may become one of my favorite bands. I played their CD on the way home (cuz I bought it up there for $10) and they have some excellent music and beautiful lyrics. Well, anyway, that was my night. Still no word from TAMS. I'll keep you (Sarah and Jennifer, the only two who ever read this) updated. Lisa
