fun with toy cars, etc A couple of weeks ago, urlLink Tom's site mentioned urlLink this website, which has to be one of the silliest things I've seen on the internet in quite some time. Last week when I was visiting my sister Karen in lovely Derry, New Hampshire, we all piled into her minivan (Liza, Karen, my other sister Julie, my brother Gary, my nephew Mike, my niece Lauren and her boyfriend Brian) and headed out to urlLink Wal-Mart.
How very suburban! While there, I noticed an enormous tub o'matchbox cars for something like 65 cents apiece. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally decided on a lovely burgundy Mercedes convertible to use for my photo. I finally held the photo shoot this afternoon, here in my cubicle (which looks out onto the beautiful Boston skyline, but also -- more importantly, in this case -- onto the roof of an adjacent parking garage). I submitted a photo to the site this afternoon and if it makes it onto the site, well hey -- you'll all be the first to know. This weekend should be fun. Tonight my sister Julie and I are going to catch Liza's semi-annual dance performance at BU's Tsai Performance Center.
The show is usually about two hours long and consists of some pretty interesting stuff (except for some of the modern dance numbers, which always seem to last forever). But of course Liza's hip-hop group will kick their collective asses. Saturday night Julie and I are going to see the always entertaining urlLink John Wesley Harding at urlLink Club Passim. Hopefully I'll get to say hello to him before or after the show. He's definitely one of the cooler semi-famous people I've met.
Have a great weekend. Do yourself a favor: rent a movie with no special effects, buy a CD of a band that never gets played on the radio, and check out the weblogs listed in my links section. Those are all things that are very good for you, I promise.
