Acts 2:43-47 Four Results of Home Fellowships "Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. " 1. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
Every Sunday during the services I give people a chance to share testimony about what God is doing in their lives. The result of these testimonies is that the whole body is encouraged in their faith and they begin to expect that God will work in their lives as well. But of course not everybody gets to share on Sunday. Usually it is only one or two. What would happen if everyone got to share every week, not just about the big things but the little things as well? We would find that the whole body would be expecting God to do wonders! 2. All who believed were together and had all things in common. In the large church context it becomes difficult to love one another in practical ways. Although there are needs and plenty of resources to meet those needs it is hard to connect the two together.
Usually any attempt to do so becomes something stiff and institutional. However, in a home fellowship when there is a need it is obvious and those who can meet that need have a heart to do so. Through these small groups loving one another becomes very natural. 3. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple... with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. One of the biggest turnoffs about the church is when we bicker and argue with each other. The reason why they were in one accord was because their needs were being met as they broke bread from house to house.
There was no need for envy or strife between them but just gladness and simplicity of heart. 4.
And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
Right now the normal pattern for people being saved at Grace is to talk with me after the service and make a confession for Christ. In this way there are a number of people being saved each month. But with home fellowships there will be many more "doorways" for people to enter through.
