a real life Scam Alert: Police want you to be aware of a new scam. Thieves are putting a thin, clear, rigid plastic "sleeve" into ATM card slots. When you insert your card, the machine can't read the strip, and asks you to re-enter your pin number. Someone behind you watches you enter and re-enter your number. You may give up, thinking the machine has captured your card and walk away. The thieves then remove the plastic sleeve with your ATM card, and empty your account. To avoid this scam, run your finger along the card slot before you put your card in. You can feel a couple of tiny prongs on the sleeve that the thieves use to get it out of the slot.
