Photo of the Day for Thursday, 3rd April 2003 -- Puddle Deconstructed Construction urlLink Photographer: Gerda Grice Comments: This is a a reflection in a big puddle left by melted ice in the neighbourhood skating ring/wading pool.
What's reflected is a condo apartment tower under construction. I liked the way the breaks in the puddle + the sun created a sort of fairytale glow + left gaps in the reflection of the almost finished building Camera used: Nikon CP 4500 Judge's comments: Today's POTD is really in the top class. It's an amazing image in so many ways, not least of which is the fact that it has to be spotted for it's potential in the first place! The contrasts and the changes in light in the photograph really are quite staggering. It's also a photograph that in a sense is like one of those "what do you see when you stare at the centre spot" type things (spectrograms?). First you see the water of the puddle, then the building, then the ripples on the water, then the building again ... Gerda, this is a really, really clever photograph and I'm very glad you submitted it to Shutterline.
