Photo of the Day for June 15, 2003 -- Bumper Crop urlLink Photographer: Glenn Jensen Comments: This is the Cadillac Ranch you may or may not have heard about.
During the 1970's, an artist group had these ten 40's - 60's era cadillacs placed vertically in the ground on a farm outside of Amarillo as a tribute to the Cadillac tailfin and old Route 66 in general. Supposedly, they lean at the same angle as the sides of the Great Pyramids, and visitors are encouraged to add their own artwork via spraypaint. This shot was taken on Sunday afternoon in June, 2003, a few hours following a rainshower. Camera Settings: f/8, 1/800 s, ISO 100 Camera used: Sony DSC-F707 + 0.7x wide-angle conversion lens Geo. location: Amarillo, TX Judge's comments: Very unique photograph, thanks for submitting it! I guess it's the equivalent of Stone Henge in Texas... Thanks also for the camera settings.
