I caught up on RedTed's Diary, a blog I'd forgotten for a few weeks. He seems especially witty and happy this week, no doubt due to the semester's end. He has good posts urlLink here and urlLink here . I hope he makes that urlLink class blog public! Back in my day (1994-1999), I think I was the among the first students in the world to have a class blog, my urlLink western cultural heritage courses (same as western civ) were pretty ahead of the curve thanks to urlLink Drs. Johnson and Wren . The web discussions, as it was called then, added so much to my experience.
Some day I'm going to thank those guys personally, because even though I thought they were quacks at the time, I've since added them to the list of people who've helped make me a better individual. Gushy, I know. But I often wish other people I know had picked up critical thinking skills from a humanities course along the way. A few years ago I read David Denby's Great Books and was pleased to see that my own education on the classics was competitive with Columbia's.
