Last weekend I discovered a new channel on my cable. It's not new, but since I moved the TV to the front room we actually get all the channels now.
Anyway, the Ovation channel is so great. I love just about every kind of music, except maybe country and that's because my hick roots already got that part out of me, but it often seems the only music represented on TV is rock, rap, and country. Don't get me wrong, MTV is also one of my favorite channels. MTV, HBO, Bravo, PBS and the networks make up just about all my viewing.
But aside from a Boston Pops special on PBS, you never get a wider variety of music on TV. Ovation plays it all the time now, and often to video backgrounds. The coolest thing I've seen on Ovation is urlLink Woody Guthrie: A Man in the Sand , a documentary about the making of a new urlLink album of Woody Guthrie songs, done by a great group of artists including Billy Bragg and Natalie Merchant.
