A houseguest/fellow blogger mentioned recently in passing the way my blog will fall silent for a few days, and then burst with a flurry of articles or posts within an hour.
Here's why: I blog while momming. When I can dedicate myself to writing, I hardly want to spend it blogging pop culture and journal entries. Sorry, I love you guys, but I'm a writer first and a blogger second. When I can't dedicate myself to writing, it's invariably because I'm busy taking care of the children. At these times I often multitask reading online newspapers and other blogs while playing cooking or building blocks. When I come across something particularly interesting, I set that browser window aside and move on.
Then, if I get a minute long enough to blog (often these come only once every few days), I go back over the set aside articles and blogs and, typically with the blog this button on the google toolbar, put them on the blog. Hence, the blogging flurries. Since John began urlLink the spaceboy back in January, it's been notoriously neglected. Not by any means has John quit reading all his space- and planetary-oriented articles, and I usually find them burried in browser windows when I sit down to read my stuff. I've taken to occasionally posting them to the spaceboy before killing the window. Hence, the spaceboy's getting article posts again. You can tell if I've posted or if John has (as if he would! ) by the ID at the bottom of the post.
Finally, this blog has obviously been suffering from a lack of attention. I can tell by my page hits, which have plummeted, and the comments, which are few and far between. I have only myself to blame as I've been spending much more attention on urlLink the SprogBlog lately than the Same River Twice. What can I say? Life has been very kid-centered lately. The SprogBlog rewards me with hits and comments, and I don't feel like I'm competing in a pool of the blogosphere already saturated with pop culture musings.
There are very few young moms blogging. Consequently, this blog has seen a lot of article postings, but little commentary and the SprogBlog gets plenty of both. I'm not abandoning this blog, but if you want more personal info, visit the SprogBlog.
