As Howard Dean delivered what must have been outtakes from his expected acceptance of the nomination speech, but in support of a Kerry vote rather than the Dean vote, I was struck by a man stripped down to himself. There was no Joe Trippy, no James Carville, just Dr. Howard Dean, cheered on by, as he called them, the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. Stripped down to himself, Howard Dean revealed Joe Trippy as the unnamed, unknown soldier behind the reignition of the liberal party. After all, it was Trippy who conceived of the $100 solution. And it was Trippy who supported blogging.
Did he waste these ideas on Dean? I know I won't ever be so quick to donate $25 to a political campaign. In fact, I'd like to have a few of those hits at the bat back now that Howard gave up so easily. Still, it was comforting and nostalgic to see Howard Dean at the mic tonight. I only wish he'd been accepting the nomination instead of stumping for Kerry.
