As another mom dropping her child off at pre-school said sarcastically this week, I guess I'll just go home and eat bonbons while I wait for Oprah to come on.
Among moms, Oprah has a bad rep because the world outside of moms thinks luxurious and frivolous TV watching is all momming entails. For this reason, as well as the many reasons that the aforementioned presupposition is wrong, I don't typically watch Oprah. But I'm in my third week of a daytime TV fast, and Oprah doesn't really count since it comes on at 4, in fact I was only watching from 4:45 to 5.
Granted in TiVo time, that means I still saw half the show. I've had four days of company and I needed to check out. OK, enough caveats and excuses. Oprah said the best advice she's received was from Maya Angelou who said, "When people show you who they are, believe them. The first time. "
