I'm all tingly... I've been up to a couple of exciting things. One, I fixed a problem in my map editor involving loading of collision edge polylines from files--for some reason there's a null polyline in the list after a file load and d3d was throwing a fit when it came up to be rendered. Plus, I got my skybox in place. It still looks pretty funky though; clouds that cross over from one face to another look suspiciously bent; although they don't quite break the illusion, I think I'm going to make a revised version with clouds that stay off the quad edges. plus, smaller clouds. And revise the placement of the box so that I'm not wasting texels on occluded sky geometry that never gets seen (below the tile plane or above the view fustrum). What's really exciting though...is that, for the first time in more or less ever, I have a job lead at a place I would actually like to look at. It's QA testing, nothing fancy, but with the idea of converting to full time at the end of a 6 month stint if everything's going well. Had the phone interview today and it felt like it went really well. Well enough I don't know...just have to wait (biting my nails the whole time) and see. Plus this company is having its big conference/convention meet the press dealy down in providence this weekend, so I'm probably going to go to that.
Meet a bunch of people, plus Keith Baker (! ) creator of the Eberron D&D campaign setting. So that should be exciting. If I can figure out a ride home at the witching hour maybe I can even stay and inveigle my way into the dungeon crawl adventure he's going to run at the end of the con. we shall see.
