  DHAKA, - Britain has offered assistance in promoting environmental management systems in Bangladesh as part of its growing role as a development partner in environment sector with a focus on poverty.
The aim of the assistance aims at promoting `environmentally responsible business` enabling Bangladesh private sector to access international markets with `strong environmentally sensitive consumers`, British High Commission officials told an `Environment Reception` hosted by High Commissioner Dr David Carter yesterday. Deputy Speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui, Environment Secretary Syed Tanvir Hossain and representatives of a number of environment related organizations, entrepreneurs and concerned officials joined the reception at the High Commissioner`s residence.
