Home decorating shows have taken a new turn these days. There are shows for the sole purpose of tidying a person's house and getting rid of clutter. If you watch one of these shows you'll marvel at all of the things people have stowed away over the years.
Most of the items are sorted out into piles, keep, toss and throw away. At the end of the show the newly sorted out room has a much more zen feeling that brings about relaxation versus the old stressful room. I myself am guilty of being a pack rat and frequent garage sales much too often. I am starting to learn to only buy things that I really need and occasionally an item that I want purely for my enjoyment.
I just find it so ironic that we complain about high gas prices and yet we spend our money on junk that ends up being thrown out anyway. There are people in this world who have a lot less than we do. Somehow I feel this sense of guilt as if I am mocking them by filling my life with objects while people go hungry. The reality is that this is the world we live in. There must be something we can do to change it?
