Well, I have returned from my first reunion from college. It was completely NOT what I expected at all.
I had wondered for months how it would be - and now I can safely say that I have survived! Not only was the campus even more beautiful than I remembered (with the help of 200 million dollars for renovations), but my fellow classmates were embued with the spirit of comraderie, letting bygones be bygones (of course copious amounts of alcohol always help!).
I was fascinated at the scene from The Mug (the campus "night club"), where suddenly, completely ignoring school day animosity and clique-i-ness, everyone was your best friend. "OH MY GOD, HOW are you doing? *HUG* What are you doing now? REALLY? WOW! I'm going to get a drink now, I will catch up with you later! " This display was usually followed by me asking whoever was next to me, "Who the hell is that person?
" It made me think about a lot of things. About how even the most ANNOYING people from school (you know who you are! :)) have something in common with you. We all chose the same school - even if not for the same reasons. And because we were away from the stress of school and jobs, it was so easy to slip right back into the utopia of college days (minus the stress of school work of course!).
Even the people that I once called the "beautiful people" (i.e. sticks-up-their-arse) were friendly and normal - especially those that I NEVER would have said a word to in college. In any case, I had a fantastic time seeing old friends, repairing old friendships and meeting former classmates. When I get the pictures in, I will be sure to post some - merely to remind me of how good I had it!!! :)
