Philippians 2 Imitating Christ's Humility 1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature[1] God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature[2] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Footnotes 2:6 Or in the form of 2:7 Or the form Jesus told his disciples that whoever wants to be the greatest must be the least.Jesus, King of Kings, was the greatast servant of all. Being a servant isn't any fun, most of the time. It can be boring, it can seem like a waste of time, serving others can be a pain in the neck. Weeding the garden for your mom, hanging up the clothes, doing paperwork for teachers...all the really boring stuff.
That's serving. The only way to keep on going, keep on serving is to look to Jesus. ( Just like every other hard thing the Bible says to do, looking to Jesus is the best way because He's done all that) Isn't it true that Jesus, being in the very natuer of God took on the very nature of a servant? Kewl, huh? Sometimes being Christian just isn't fun. You have to do a whole bunch of stuff you don't want to.
But God is a good God. There are a lot of perks to following Jesus.Such as, you know, eternal life, living water, peace that transcends all understanding, power to cast out demons, love that overflows... Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your might. Love your neighbour as you love yourself. Signing off, Jenna
