1 Corinthians 1 Christ the Wisdom and Power of God 18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. " 20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. The SPM is only about a hundred days away, and it gets scary whenever I think about the amount of things I have to know. I'd hardly consider what I'm learning to be knowledge, seeing as most of my fellow SPM candidated memorise the facts and regurgitate them during exams. This is of course, essentially what needs to be done for the SPM. However, when we consider knowledge to be things we know, we are rather knowledgable as a species. The human race has progressed so far, and mankind now has few boundaries in the search for knowledge and truth. I guess knowledge, and knowing how knowledgable we are, can be our downfall. We seem to get defensive whenever it appears our knowledge has limitations. I can go insane when people say I have bad music taste (seeing as I research each CD before I buy it, making my CD collection impeccable, to me at least).
Those people who can't take criticism, probably can't take the idea of their knowledge being imperfect. When we think we know so much, it impairs our ability to hear biblical truth. The bible in fact tells us the truth about truth, if that makes any sense. God is all powerful and wise, and in verse 19, it shows that God will make us see how unknowledgable we actually are. So we as a species, must know what knowledge really is. God's word is the truth, and that's what we should cling on to. Your friend, Kevin
