  Yeah...spam is a fucker and there is nowt you can do about it really. There is one reasonably effective method which is a plugin for outlook which my old man used for a wile. (Can't remember what it is called or where I got it from so you'd have to research it a bit! ) It's kind of similar to adaware in a way though.
First it aloows you to specify basic rules (which you can do in outlook already) i.e filter out emails with abnormal characters in the address field/emails with certain attachments etc. The best bit is log file that you download every day from the plugin server which contains a relatively up to date list of spam addresses/domains/subject titles (new ones are created every minute so it doesn't catch everything) He was getting somewhere in the region of 100 spam mails coming from jap domains through to standard "porn" domains...when he slammed this on he got it down to about 10 a day.
I spoke to him about this already as I need it but he doesn't have it anymore...anyone tracks this app down or something similar let me know as I also want to break things at the moment.
