Conclusion

Current Implemented Features

Prenatal Nutritionist is a working demo of the features that we had envisioned.  It does not have the database backend, but the interface itself is essentially complete which allows people to see what the final product would look like.  The Prenatal Nutritionist was designed and implemented using Flash which should be compatible with all PDA’s since Flash has become somewhat of a standard.  Additionally, the screen size is a PDA standard 320 X 320 pixels which if need be can be easily resized.  Currently, Prenatal Nutritionist has the following functionality:

Work Still To Be Done

To be fully complete, the Prenatal Nutritionist needs to have a database connected to its interface to store the input data so data would not be lost after every shutdown of the program.  The database would store the following:

Another item to add to the Prenatal Nutritionist is the USB connectivity.  The Prenatal Nutritionist needs to be able to support uploading to the PC for easier viewing of the charts and data on a bigger display.  Also, PC connectivity allows for the user to email their data to their physician which is a very important feature because it could eliminate some doctors visits during pregnancy and keep the physician more up to date on the health of the user.  Since PDA’s can already easily plug and play with PC’s, then it would seem that just a simple script could get the data to transfer from the PDA onto the PC.  If this is so, future developers would have little work to do with connectivity.  The final item that needs to be implemented is a small PC application which can store the data that is uploaded.  This application would allow the uploaded data to be viewed in charts and graphs on the PC much like the charts and graphs on the PDA already implemented.  This should not be a difficult task but the developers should have sufficient knowledge of windows programs and SQL.  If the connectivity, the database, and the desktop application were implemented, then the Prenatal Nutritionist would be fully functional and could be aiding pregnant woman in having healthier babies and safer pregnancies.
