Grades are posted in "alphabetical order" (based on "strcmp", the string compare function). This means that aliases starting with numbers show up first, then aliases starting with uppercase letters (A-Z). Finally, aliases starting with lowercase letters appear last.

In the posting of the grades, you will see the following header:

• Alias This was the "alias" you submitted your name under. For some sections, your alias has been listed as a 5 letter code. This will be the last 4 digits of some ID, plus a character. For example, if your last 4 digits were 2345, it will be posted as 2w345. The letter 'w' was picked at random. We will change those to real aliases as soon as possible.

• H1 All columns starting with the letter H are homework grades. H1 refers to Homework 1. H2 refers to Homework 2, and so forth. All homeworks are out of 100 points.

• Q1 All columns starting with the letter Q are quiz grades. Q1 refers to Quiz 1. Q2 refers to Quiz 2, and so forth. All quizzes are out of 10 points.

• E1 All columns starting with the letter E are exam grades. E1 refers to the first midterm. This grade was out of 100 points.

• #X Your grade currently consists of homeworks, quizzes and exams. If you have been excused due to illnesses, observances of religious holidays, or any other documented excuse, which you have contacted the instructor, then this column will contain a number, which is the number of "excused" grades you have. You will also see the letter 'X' in place of a quiz/homework grade. For example, if you had a valid excuse for Quiz 3, you will see an 'X' in that column, and the number 1 on # X in the column on the left. At the end of the semester, your grades will be averaged from the remaining quizzes.

  If anything, this is the column that is likely to have the most mistakes. If you were supposed to be excused for a quiz/homework please contact your instructor.
