Comments for Visual Basic Project #3

These are some general comments I came up with while grading each of your interfaces.  Refer to the grades page ( http://www.cs.umd.edu/class/spring2004/cmsc434/grades.html ) to see which comments apply to your project.

These comments were done a little different than the past two projects.   This was mainly due to the fact that there were a significant amount of groups who were not able to implement the entire project.  Therefore, grades were based on what functionalities you were able to implement properly and in an acceptable way for the user.  Four scores (VB3A,VB3B, VB3C, VBD) are listed on the grades page.  These scores correspond to the following metrics:

-5 if dynamic graphs based on characteristics weren’t supported

-5 if you only were able to draw one graph

-5 if you didn’t support the mouse-over functionality to get specific values

-5 if you didn’t support color coding

It is an important HCI principle to maintain consistent selection between views.  Thus, if you supported selecting a point on a graph, the corresponding point should have been highlighted in the table, and vice versa.  If you didn’t implement the ability to select points on the graph/table, you got no credit for this section (this applied to most of you!)

-5 if the annotations had no graphic of the line graph

-5 if there was no index to the annotations

NOTE:  The deductions shown are just the automatic points you would lose for not supporting a feature.  It is also possible for you to lose more points if you implemented a certain feature in a haphazard way.  Please talk to me if you have any concerns about your grade.
