As announced in lecture, the last day of regular office hours for the semester will be Thursday (the 12th). However, the following extra office hours will be held next week before the final exam:

- Scores for all coursework graded so far have been posted on the class webpage again (for those students who gave an alias on their first quiz). Please check your scores, and if you notice any discrepancies please notify us RIGHT AWAY. The average score on quizzes is 74.3. The average score on homeworks is 74.1.

- Question #2 of homework #10 has just been reworded for clarification, as discussed in lecture on Friday and Monday.

- Sample exams for the second exam from the past three semesters have now been posted. Keep in mind what was said in class about the applicability of the sample exams. Even more sample exams can be found on previous semesters' class webpages for this course. Last semester (Fall 2004) this course had three midterms rather than two so a few questions from last semester's third exam are relevant, therefore these have been posted as well.

- There was a typographical error in Homework #8, problem #5, as handed out in discussion section today. It had said a_0 = 10 and a_2 = 20, but this should be a_0 = 10 and a_1 = 20. Please correct it on your copy. The correction has been made in the posted version.

- The exam is RESCHEDULED for Thursday evening, March 3, 6:30-8:30 (a half-hour later than scheduled before), in the same rooms. Anyone with conflicts with this NEW date and time should see their instructor on Monday.

- Due to the University's closing, the exam will be delayed. We are going to request the same rooms be reserved for one week later next Thursday night (March 3), but the exam time may be scheduled a half-hour later. We will give more specifics when we have them. Those with conflicts with the exam time should discuss it with us again AFTER we have a new exam time and location scheduled.

- If the University closes due to weather, all CMSC 250 activities (such as class and office hours) will stop while the University is closed, and resume when the University reopens. If the University closes tomorrow evening, then the midterm will be rescheduled for a later date (as will Friday's makeup). IF THE UNIVERSITY IS OPEN TOMORROW EVENING DURING THE MIDTERM TIME THEN THE EXAM WILL GO ON AS SCHEDULED. To see whether the University is closed, check www.umd.edu, or call (301) 405-SNOW.

- The next set of lecture slides are now on the webpage- be sure to print and bring them to class before lecture on Wednesday (the 16th). Some typographical errors which were on the slides for the previous topic (predicates) during lecture have been now been corrected on the webpage, so you may want to print them also.
- Some students have been confused by #4(b) on Homework #3. When the problem says "derive similar rules for base 8 numbers" it doesn't mean "derive rules for numbers divisible by 10 and by 5 in base 8". Instead it means "derive rules in base 8 for numbers which have the analogous properties which numbers divisible by 10 and divsible by 5 do in base 10".
