Currently looking for jobs in Academia (Tenure Track or Postdoc) and Industry, from Fall 2017 in Computational Linguistics + Computer Vision (and related topics in AI/ML). Please see my research statement, teaching statement, and diversity statement.

I'm a final year Computer Science doctoral student at the University of Maryland, College Park, tentatively graduating on May 2017. I'm advised by Dr. Yiannis Aloimonos and Dr. Jordan Boyd-Graber. I work in the intersection of Computational Linguistics and Computer Vision, and work on finding resolution of coreferences of entities and events across modalities.

I received my MS in August 2010 from Georgia Tech, Atlanta and was advised by Dr. Ellen Yi-Luen Do. I cleared my preliminary oral exam and advanced to doctoral candidacy on December 15, 2015. In the Summer of 2016 I was a research intern at Comcast Labs DC.

  • (November 20) The comics paper draft have been posted on arXiv, data and code coming soon.
  • (November 16) Presenting a poster on distributional semantics at DARPA Human Robot Interface Meeting in collaboration with Boston Engineering Corporation.
  • (June 12) The relationships paper, with Mohit as first author, gets best paper award at NAACL '16!
  • (May 25-27) Organising the UMD-Ulster Cognitive Robotics Workshop (UUCRW), 2016 with Yezhou Yang.
  • (April 19) Michael and I win the prestigious Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship 2016!

  • (April 1) Presenting a poster at the Mid-Atlantic Student Colloquium on Speech, Language and Learning.
  • (March 18) Will be working over the summer in the DC research lab of Comcast on vision+language+learning under Ferhan Ture (also a UMD/clip alumni)
