Thu, July 28, 8:31 pm: Information about the final exam has been posted on the Exams link of the class web page.  No previous final exams will be posted.

Thu, July 28, 8:13 pm: The take home quiz #6 has been posted and you can find the description in the Quizzes link of the class web page.  If you finish this quiz ahead of time drop Dov a line so he can grade it immediately. 

Thu, July 28, 10:07 pm: Double-check the recorded grades in grades.cs.umd.edu are correct.  You have until Monday Aug 1 to report any problems related to homeworks 1 through 6, quizzes 1 through 5, and both midterms.  After Monday we will assume the recorded grades are correct and no regrade requests will be accepted regarding these scores.  Please contact Dov if you have any questions.  Thanks.

Fri, July 8, 8:48 pm: The worksheet for Quiz #5 has been posted.  The second problem in the worksheet makes a reference to deep and shallow copying.  We will cover this topic next week.  The quiz will be on Friday, July 15.

Fri, July 8, 8:30 pm: The second midterm will be on Thursday, July 14.  As discussed today in class, you will not need to write code involving arrays for the second midterm, however, you should know how to draw memory maps involving arrays.

Wed, July 6, 11:25 am: It was suggested today in class to move the midterm from Tuesday to Thursday.  I will consider moving the exam if all the students agree.  If you do not agree please drop me a line (nelson@cs.umd.edu).  Notice that regardless of when the exam takes place the next project will be posted next Tuesday.

Wed, Jun 29, 8:02 am: Homework typo.  The third row of the TAG_FORMAT entry must use <roadLength> instead of <roadNumber>.  The homework description have been corrected.  The TAG_FORMAT should read as follows:

Mon, Jun 20, 1:56 pm: Homework #2 has graded and scores are available through grades.cs.umd.edu.  You have until Wednesday to talk to Dov about any grading doubts or possible regrades related to this homework.

Wed, Jun 15, 8:02 pm: Updating Eclipse.  Once you have finished and submitted hw#2, update your Eclipse version.  Notice that you don't need to remove your previous Eclipse version.  Just put the new version in a different folder and create the appropriate shortcut.  The Eclipse version we want to use is:

Release Build: 3.0.2,  March 11, 2005

You can download Eclipse from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads.  It is extremely important you install the correct eclipse version.  You will find the appropriate version under the heading "Top-10 Eclipse Downloads" and by selecting the link "Eclipse SDK 3.0.2 (latest release)". 

Mon, Jun 13, 5:41 pm: The following office hours changes apply only to this week (week of June 13):

Thursday (June 16): Nelson will have office hours on Thursday from 8:30 am - 9:30 am. 

Friday (June 16): Nelson will not have office hours.  Dov will hold a lab session on Friday.  If you have any questions address those concerns with him in lab.  He will not have office hours on Friday. 

Mon, Jun 13, 5:39 pm: Your hw1 and quiz#1 scores are posted.  You can see your scores through grades.cs.umd.edu.  If you have any concerns about the grading, you must talk with Dov tomorrow in lab.  The last day to discuss any issues about the quiz and the homework is Wednesday June 15 during Dov's office hours.

Thu, Jun 9, 10:17 am: Updating Java. Once you have finished hw#1, update your java version.  If you have a mac the update should be automatic and you have nothing else to do.  If you have a PC (Windows XP) then follow these steps:

The process describe above should take you no time and it will benefit a lot.  I will explain more in lecture tomorrow Friday.
