Introduction

Overview

In the past decade, the World Wide Web (WWW) has become more accessible to the public. Many companies have created their own Web sites to assist their customers and to bring out any general information about the company to the public. People can also perform research and other types of activities, such as chatting, playing games, listening to music, and other activities. Due to the growth of the WWW, Web page designs and page layouts have become very important topics these days. A better-organized Web page can be more attractive to people and can also get the information to the public more effectively.

Statement of Problem

The design of the page directly affects the efficiency with which viewers absorb nformation. A page with better layout design can attract more visitors (viewers) resulting in better discrimination of information. How does page layout affect viewing? What kind of page layout is better for getting information to the viewers? What kind of page design attracts more viewers? Which page layout should be used for your new Web page?

Proposed Study

To have a Web site that stands out from the crowd, an attractive and easy to use page layout is very important. Using technology, we can design a page with different combinations of layouts. It is crucial to detect which combination yields the best result to the viewers. In this project, I will study the different combinations of page layouts and report on their effectiveness.

Scope

To investigate the effectiveness of different types of page design, I plan to pursue the following lines of inquiry:

  • What are the different types of page layout?
  • How to measure a good page layout?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of different types of page layouts?
  • What are the differences between frame and non-frame page layouts?
  • How does a page with navigation bar compare to a page without a navigating bar?
  • How does the cost of creating different Web pages affect each Web page design?
  • What is the most efficient way (both time and cost) of creating a Web page?
  • How does the page layout affect the cost of making the page?
  • How does the different page layout ease the viewer's ability to browse the page?
  • How does the page differ in displaying the same layout in different Web browsers?
