As a follow-up activity for the WAMRL workshop, I organized a discussion session for the technical women in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory. Thirteen attendees ranged from visiting graduate students through postdoctoral researchers and permanent employees at the laboratory, as well as collaborators at the University of Chicago. Due to the broad range of experience of the attendees, we discussed issues on women in math and computer science throughout the pipeline, including ideas for outreach to young women at the elementary and high school levels. The attendees enthusiastically agreed to establish informal monthly lunch sessions as a means for ongoing mentoring interactions and outreach, particularly to female student visitors.
