Hello, I am Anupam, an Assistant Professor at ADCPS, IIT Bombay since August 2019. I research the relations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with labour, society, and policy. I work to expand the critical lens on AI from the current instrumental and normative frameworks to one informed by an immanent critique of its political economy.

Before IITB, from September 2017 to April 2019 I was Senior Researcher at Comcast Research, working on computational linguistics/machine learning problems to make their systems respond to language centered around media. I worked with embedding systems, question answering, topic models, and gathering knowledge from human chatter.

My PhD was from the Department of Computer Science, University of Maryland, College Park, in 2017. I was advised by Dr. Yiannis Aloimonos and Dr. Jordan Boyd-Graber. My work was on multimodal systems, computational linguistics, and computer vision. In my dissertation I investigated coreferences of multimodal entities and events. My MS was from the Department of Computer Science, Georgia Tech, Atlanta, in August 2010 and my advisor was Dr. Ellen Yi-Luen Do.

My hometown is Delhi, India.
