Attention Guidance in Social VR
A Multi-modal attention guidance method for turn-taking in VR conference calls.
Doctoral Student
Department of Computer Science
University of Maryland
I am a 4th year Computer Science Ph.D. student at GAMMA lab,
University of Maryland, advised by Professor Dinesh Manocha.
My research is on developing interactions and interfaces in XR(VR/AR/MR) to facilitate multi-user experiences in both the social and work context.
Before coming to Maryland, I received my B.E in Computer Science and Engineering at Korea University.
There, I was part of the Interactive 3D Media Lab,
advised by Professor Junghyun Han. My previous research has been on Mixed Reality Collaborations, AR interfaces,
Redirected Walking techniques and pseudo-haptics.

DocuBits transforms documents into small, interactive bits for collaborataive learning in VR.
VRDoc is a set of gaze-based interactions to improve users reading experience in VR.
A Mixed Reality Collaboration (MRC) system that supports one-to-many collaboration. In this specific case, two local AR users and one remote VR user.
An obstacle detection and alert system using only the rear-camera of a smartphone.
Provides the sensation of underwater dragforce to the VR user using pseudo-haptics.
A VR system combined with a cable-driven system that provides users a feeling of jumping on the moon.
A VR system that simulates a parasailing experience. To overcome the limited workspace of the motion platform, the concept of redirected walking was applied.
A proof-of-concept prototype of a VR social messenger created in a campus hackathon at 2016.
A prototype taxi app that calls self-driving RC cars that is nearest to the user, and takes the user to the destination.
