IRTAZA SHAHID

PhD/MS, Computer Science, University of Maryland
Founding DeepLearning Engineer, Hearvana.ai

Currently a Computer Science Ph.D. student at University of Maryland, College Park. Research assistant in the Networking, Mobile Computing, and Autonomous Sensing Lab (iCoSMoS) advised by Prof. Nirupam Roy. My doctoral research focuses on Human-Centric Acoustics: The Interplay of Opportunities and Security—developing systems that harness everyday acoustic signals for enhancing user experience, while ensuring security and privacy. My work spans speech privacy, deepfake detection, and earable-based health sensing, with publications at venues such as USENIX Security, ACM MobiSys, and IEEE ICASSP.

Currently, I am also a Founding Deep Learning Engineer at Hearvana.ai, a stealth AI startup at the AI2 Incubator, where I build efficient deep learning models for next-generation hearing technology.
