Informative and Enjoyable Web-Based Visual Presentations
This web site showcases
informative and entertaining web-based information visualizations that are
meant for access by the general public. We do not endorse these websites; in
fact many have features that we think are flawed, but this is the mixed state
of current designs for web-based information visualization. However, they are
good enough to criticize, and promising enough to study. We hope by drawing
attention to these designs we will encourage discussion that leads to
improvements as well as a more sophisticated understanding of what makes
visualization effective. This is a student group project done by students in
the spring 2005 University of Maryland Department of Computer Science graduate
seminar on Information Visualization, taught by Ben Shneiderman. We solicit
