Specific Observations: Taiwan

The number of hops on the route to this site ranged from 19 to 21. The number of lost packets to this site is very high when compared to Bethesda, Chicago and Canada, but is comparable to Mexico and Italy. The losses varied from 1.26% to 15.22%. The range of loss percentage for the other sites is given below:

Bethesda: 0.05% to 2.66%
Canada: 0.01% to 1.35%
Chicago: 0% to 2.33%
Mexico: 0.075% to 18.02%
Italy: 0.767% to 40.08%

The average RTT value for this site ranged from 0.309 sec to 0.432 sec. This is very high when compared to the range of average RTT value for the other sites:

Bethesda: 0.015 to 0.025 sec
Canada: 0.039 to 0.089 sec
Chicago: 0.121 to 0.198 sec
Mexico: 0.122 to 0.411 sec
Italy: 0.232 to 0.923 sec

There is a slight variation in the minimum RTT values, which were observed to range from 0.271 sec to 0.288 sec. The maximum RTT values are 4-10 times the minimum RTT value and ranged from 0.868 sec to 2.071 sec. The number of reordered packets in our experiments ranged from 36 to 80. The round trip times were particularly high at 10:00 and 14:00. In addition, there was some periodicity in the peak values of the round trip times. It can also be observed that there were some periods in which there are both high RTT values and losses.
