Tue Dec 4, 5:00pm: For 132H (honors) students. Lecture is canceled Friday, Dec 7. For Wed (Dec 5) I will give a lecture on my current research in bioinformatics. Attendence is optional.

Tue Dec 4, 9:55am: Nelson's office hours for the last week of classes (Dec 10-14) will be: Tue (11:00-12), Wed (1:00-1:30, 2:00-2:30). No office hours on Monday (Dec 10) or Friday (Dec 14).

Tue Dec 4, 9:37am: Tomorrow Wednesday, in lab, you will receive your graded Quiz #5. Make sure you collect the quiz and talk to the TA regarding any grading doubts. Make sure you collect any of your graded material from the TA.

Tue Nov 27, 10:48am: Our last class will be on Friday Dec 7, 2007. There will be no lecture on Monday Dec 10. However, there will be a lab that day (Review).
Tue Nov 27, 10:48am: Course evaluations will be available between Tue. Nov. 27 (12:00 am) - Wed., Dec. 12 (11:55pm). This semester marks the start of the campus-wide course evaluation system. All students will be directed to the new course evaluation site: http://www.courseevalum.umd.edu/. TA evaluations will not take place this semester.
Tue Nov 27, 10:48am: Message from Nelson: Students, I am looking for new, interesting ideas for projects. I created an entry in the forum so you can provide your comments. Please feel free to write any ideas you might think (even if you consider them difficult projects) and provide feedback on how to improve the current projects.

Students usually arrive in shifts, so show up ANYTIME during
the 1.5 hours. There will be:

research in CS at UMCP.

* CURRENT student doing research who can share their experiences

Mon Oct 29, 3:53pm: Multiplicity Information - You don't have to add multiplicity information (numbers to indicate how many instances of one class are associated with another) for the homework UML or the project UML.

Mon Oct 8, 6:35pm: Project 3: Note that the default WordCountApplet code uses TreeMap from the Java Collections Framework. To test your SearchTreeMap code instead, you need to add "import searchTree.*;" to the list of imports, and change occurrences of "TreeMap" to "SearchTreeMap".

Mon Sep 24, 2:45pm It is really convenient for you (you will have a permanent backup easier to access than the CVS repository backup) if you periodically submit your project (even if you are not done) to the submit server. Remember that submissions do not use any of your submit tokens. So, please submit frequently :)

Sat Sep 01, 10:46 am: If you are getting an error similar to "Bad version number in .class file" when trying to run a program in Eclipse then you have the wrong compiler compliance set. You can fix the problem as follows: Project→Properties→Java Compilier and proceed to set the compliance level to 5.0 (assuming you are using the 1.5 jre).

No experience necessary and is free. Everyone (UMCP students, faculty, staff, etc.) are welcome to attend.
