Building a Community of Equity-Minded CS Professionals

Equity is commonly used as a goal for many organizations. Computing as a field has struggled to increase diversity and we have not been able to address equity in an earnest fashion. With examples of less-than ideal technological developments, I will showcase how technology perpetuates inequities that already exist in society. This is often exacerbated when technologist opt to be unaware of these inequities when developing new systems. I close with a call to action to improve the educational systems to produce more equity-minded professionals.
