Senior Academic Advisor
Formerly: Alyssa M. Neuner
Alyssa currently serves as a senior academic advisor for the department. She is pursuing her M.A. in Higher Education Administration at the University of Maryland, College Park. She started at the University of Maryland in 2012 and received her M.A. in American Studies with a focus on phenomenology in digital space. Her B.A. is from SUNY Purchase and focused on race, gender, and sexuality representation in virtual worlds. She joined the Computer Science department in 2016 after spending 2 years working with the Freshmen Connection program. Prior to that she advised for Letters and Sciences as a graduate assistant. Alyssa's primary research interests include the retention and persistence of LGBTQ+ students in STEM and faculty issues as they relate to women faculty, LGBTQ+ faculty, and faculty of color in STEM disciplines. Alyssa is an avid hockey fan (go Bruins!), enjoys playing video games, and spending time with her family.
