05.28.2020 10:33 NFS Server mounts are down

Our NFS server is currently undergoing unexpected maintenance. All services that rely on NFS may be down for the next hour. An announcement status will be made once the server is back online; NFS mounts may need to be refreshed to remove stale mounts.

04.21.2020 13:31 Outage of submit and "mailman" mailing list server

Update: Service was restored by 1:00pm. Shortly before Noon today, the server running submit.cs.umd.edu experienced an outage. Projected up time: 2:00pm. Some CSD mailing lists will experience delayed delivery of messages. All message will be delivered once service is restored. System admins are busy addressing these issues.

We have retired one of our DNS servers. If you are having issues resolving DNS queries, please contact CS Helpdesk to get updated DNS information.

04.21.2020 12:22 Intermittent routing issue due to failed hardware. Admins are investigating.

Steps have been taken to mitigate the impact of this hardware failure, and all affected equipment is redundant, but further outages of up to 2.5 minutes may be possible if additional hardware failover is required.

Please contact the CS helpdesk if you have further issues with your virtual machine.

01.07.2020 09:28 Some services are unavailable due to Virtualization Cluster Issues.

Some services running on virtual machines, including some Junkfood cluster machines, talks.cs, officehours.cs, and personal VMs, are not available due to this issue. We have escalated the problem with our vendor. We do not currently have an estimated time that services will be restored.

If your VM is running, we expect it to continue running, but we recommend that you do not restart the system, as it might not be able to reboot.

The Grades Server will unavailable during this time. IF you have issues after the maintenance window ends, try clearing your DNS cache.
